Cette année, le Groupe de Recherche Interdisciplinaire sur les biomatériaux injectables (GRIBOI) se joindra aux Journées d’Orthopédie de Fort de France. Nous accueillerons aussi des collègues Québéquois qui animerons une table ronde sur les prothèses d’épaule et les reconstructions du LCA.

Combined Meeting 29° JOFdF and 19° GRIBOI
2009 March 23th to 27th , Hotel Carayou, Trois Ilets, Martinique

The 19th interdisciplinary research conference on injectable biomaterials for minimally invasive clinical applications (GRIBOI) will be held in Trois Ilets, Martinique (French West Indies) from the 25th to the 28th of March 2009.
Jean-Louis Rouvillain (professor of orthopaedic surgery) and Hervé Deramond (professor of radiology) are honoured to organize that edition. Professor Jean-Louis Rouvillain chairs the 29th congress of orthopaedic surgery (journées d’orthopédie de Fort de France –JOFDF-) and it has been decided to link JOFDF and GRIBOI on the same site during the same week to share informations between scientists and physicians.
GRIBOI (Groupe de Recherche Interdisciplinaire sur les Biomatériaux Osseux Injectables) is an association born in 1989 by French physicians and scientists interested in bone augmentation and bone substitutes. Their goal was to think about injectable biomaterials delivered into the bone through percutaneous routes. That group became rapidly international and gathers now members coming from all the parts of the world. Every year, GRIBOI organizes an international congress in different countries (Berck sur mer en 1989… Baltimore (USA) 2004, Shanghai 2005, Berne 2006, Oxford 2007, Montréal 2008 ) and the next one will be again held in a French speaking area close to the American continent.
The conference consists of lectures, oral and poster presentations. There will be seven sessions:
- Vertebral body augmentation (state of the art)
- Polymeric biomaterials (state of the art)
- Injectable bone substitutes (state of the art)
- Biomechanics of vertebral body augmentation
- Biomaterial rheology and delivery instrumentation
- Osteoinductive biomaterials
- Bone remodeling
Taking advantage of the linked two congresses « JOFDF et GRIBOI » and their attendees, GRIBOI 2009 will be mainly centered on the clinical aspects and delivery systems aspects and the expectations of the physicians using injectable biomaterials. The different sessions will bring together clinical experience and fundamental research around common issues. Links between fundamental research, clinical research and application will be reinforced by the presence of international experts.
