FIRST CARAIBES organise :

le 1er CONGRES INTERNATIONAL DE PSYCHIATRIE ET D’ADDICTOLOGIE DE LA CARAÏBE
24-25-26 octobre 2011
Fort-de-France, Martinique

Deux volets se partagent le programme : «Frantz FANON 50 ans après» et «Les avancées en psychiatrie et addictologie».

Psychiatre martiniquais, Frantz FANON auteur notamment de « Peau noire, masques blancs » et des « Damnés de la terre » a joué un rôle important dans la lutte de libération algérienne. Il a inspiré de nombreux mouvements antiracistes. Il est un des fondateurs à la fois du courant de pensée tiers-mondiste et de la psychiatrie sociale. Celle-ci, 50 ans après sa mort, constitue un outil précieux de compréhension des soubresauts postcoloniaux et de certaines pathologies. Dans le même temps, l’œuvre de Frantz Fanon est aujourd’hui revisitée par de nombreux auteurs notamment ceux des postcolonial studies, les écrivains de la créolité, par des cinéastes et par des rappers. A la lueur de ces réflexions très actuelles, notre journée sera l’occasion d’une relecture des concepts d’identité culturelle, d’ethnicité, de créolisation, de mondialisation.

Le volet Psychiatrie et Addictologie a pour ambition de rassembler à la Martinique d’éminents spécialistes de nombreux pays, reconnus sur le plan international pour leurs compétences et qui présenteront les résultats les plus récents de la recherche sur les thérapeutiques de l’anxiété, des troubles de l’humeur, des premiers épisodes psychotiques, en psychotraumatologie, en psychiatrie périnatale et en addictologie.
La Caraïbe, terre de métissage et de contrastes culturels, imprégnée de son histoire de colonisation et d’esclavage est résolument ouverte sur le XXIe siècle. Afin de remplir son rôle de laboratoire mondial de la biodiversité humaine, elle intensifie ses échanges entre les 28 pays qui la composent et avec le reste du monde. Nous apprendrons à mieux connaître la psychiatrie et l’addictologie de la Caraïbe et de l’outre-mer français. La Caraïbe des consommateurs de rhum, de cannabis et de crack a développé une expertise en addictologie.

Dans un cadre enchanteur, la formule «séances plénières et posters» vise à faciliter l’interactivité avec les experts tout en évitant les frustrations de la formule « ateliers ».

On the program: "Frantz FANON 50 years later” and "Progress on research in psychiatry and addiction''.

The Martinican psychiatrist Frantz Fanon' author of "Black skin' White Masks" and "The Wretched of the earth, played a very important role in the Algerian independence movement and has been influential in anti-racist political movements. His work stands as an important influence on current postcolonial theorists and creole identity. Today's writers, movie makers, singers, slammers are consulting again Frantz Fanon's books. Taking into consideration today's way of thinking, our congress is an ideal moment to relive concepts on our cultural identity, ethnicity, creolification, globalization and updating our ideas on transcultural psychiatry and social psychiatry today.

The aim of the two days on psychiatry and addiction is to invite distinguished specialists with a world wide reputation, who would present the most recent developments in research on anxiety, bipolar disorders, psychotraumatology, perinatal psychology and addiction.

The Caribbean, with its cultural contrasts and impregnated with its history of colonization and slavery is an ideal location for this congress, thereby fulfilling its role as a world laboratory on human biodiversity and intensifying its exchanges with the rest of the world.

A couple of hours will be sped on getting a better knowledge on psychiatry and addiction in the Caribbean and the French Ove6eas departments.
